The distribution specialist TRS-STAR GmbH, based in Stutensee near Karlsruhe, offers, among other things, professional LED solutions from a single source and has a broad portfolio of LED and lighting technology as well as the associated controls.
Among the many well-known manufacturers in the TRS portfolio is the LED manufacturer Inolux, based in the heart of Silicon Valley. With a diverse range of services, it offers an extensive and innovative range of LEDs and develops LED solutions for all application requirements, both in the form of standard LED packages and customer-specific components with industry-specific requirements.
Inolux provides a variety of different individual and module LEDs, LED arrays, signal LEDs, stripes and others for the areas of furniture, decorative and background lighting.
In addition to the LEDs, TRS-STAR, as a system and solution provider, can also offer the appropriate control components for the respective application with its product partner ANSAS Semiconductor. The manufacturer offers a new family of current limiting diodes (CLD) in the space-saving SOD-123 housing, which is particularly suitable for controlling price-sensitive LED applications.
The new CLD diodes control the forward current over the specified voltage range and keep the current constant. Therefore, these components are very well suited, for example, to control LEDs on a variable voltage source with constant current. Depending on the type, the voltage range extends from 2.5V to a maximum of 190V with forward currents of up to 44mA.
Due to the linear correlation between the diode forward current and the brightness of the LED, it is possible to control the operating point of the LED very precisely and easily using only the CLD and a few external components. For increased power requirements, it is possible to operate several CLDs in parallel configuration. This simple circuit offers the end user a multitude of possibilities to realize compact, reliable and competitive LED solutions.
